Ideas for possible rituals and ceremonies include but are not limited to honoring:

miscarriage
abortion
divorce
diagnosis
hospice
coming out/ letting in
surgeries
no contact/ family estrangement
menstruation/menopause
end of any relationship ( friend, etc)
end of cycle/season/career/stage of life

Should you fear that with this pain your heart might break, remember that the heart that breaks open can hold the whole universe. Your heart is that large. Trust it. Keep breathing.

Joy is hidden in sorrow and sorrow in joy. If we try to avoid sorrow at all costs, we may never taste joy, and if we are suspicious of ecstasy, agony can never reach us either. Joy and sorrow are the parents of our spiritual growth.

Trust life, and it will teach you, in joy and sorrow, all you need to know.

Grief is praise, because it is the natural way love honors what it misses.

The work of the mature person is to carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other and to be stretched large by them. How much sorrow can I hold? That’s how much gratitude I can give.
